25 Top Hotels in Tulum With Private Pool

After trying out a wide variety of Tulum stays, these are my favorite choices that offer rooms with a private pool.

1. Papaya Playa Project

Papaya Playa Project

⭐ Rating: 4.0 out of 5
📍 Location: Km 4.5 Carretera Tulum Boca Paila, 77780 Tulum, Mexico
❓ Best for:
Wellness seekers, relaxation, villas

Staying at Papaya Playa Project was like discovering Tulum’s stylish hideaway. Set amidst lush greenery and the sparkling coastline, this place merges a boutique feel with eco-friendly values. The design, a mix of treehouse-like casitas and beachfront allure, offers a dreamy escape.

These are the best villas in Tulum with private pools, but I’ll admit it’s a little far away from the central areas. Being up north means a bit more distance from the bustling southern spots, but they offer free bikes to explore.

Every nook at this hotel unveiled something new, from rooftop pools to a serene, private beach. Weekends here are lively with their nightlife, so it may not be the quietest spot, though. Their helpful concierge made last-minute plans a breeze.

2. Be Tulum

Be Tulum hotel

⭐ Rating: 4.3 out of 5
📍 Location: Carretera Tulum Boca Paila Km. 10, 77780 Tulum, Mexico
❓ Best for:
Younger couples

This is a sophisticated and vibrant place to stay that I would recommend for younger travelers. Its sleek, design-focused ambiance is adorned with trendy decor elements. Giving a nod to the Boho-chic aesthetic sets the stage for an upscale beach experience.

Be Tulum strikes a balance between high design and nature, offering a fusion of mid-century modern flair with rustic undertones.

With semi-private plunge pools, this hotel caters to the fashionable crowd seeking an upscale beach getaway with exceptional views and top-notch design.

The amenities are more than satisfactory, and the staff is helpful. There’s a restaurant adjacent to the hotel, serving westernized Mexican food, and a raw bar and barbecue area for fresh daily catches.

Families and groups of friends

A bayfront property with a short 15-minute drive from Mayan ruins, Mereva Tulum is located just far enough from the bustling nightlife of the city. It’s perfect for families, with plunge pools in their master suites.

The private beach means you and your family can enjoy the ocean away from crowded areas. Your kids can enjoy the beach without you worrying about them getting lost. It’s a luxury hotel at relatively affordable prices.

The entire vicinity is spotless and well-maintained, and their service is exceptional. The suite I booked has a stunning view overlooking the private bay, and the beds are so comfortable I slept like a baby. Breakfast and other food served is bound to impress you.

4. Cabanas Tulum- Beach Hotel & Spa

Cabanas Tulum- Beach Hotel & Spa

⭐ Rating: 4.8 out of 5
📍 Location:  Fraccionamiento Tankah, 77780 Tulum, Mexico
❓ Best for: Nightlife lovers

This beachfront property exceeded expectations. For a smaller property, Cabanas felt more like a petite resort than a hotel. Their “Swim Up Queen” room is spacious and features a private pool that’s big enough for a short swim.

Some other rooms have a hot tub and a rooftop terrace as well. The hotel is ideally located in the middle of the Tulum beach area, where there’s plenty of nightlife. I’d say this isn’t the best location for families or people looking for some peace.

Frescos and Ziggys are two restaurants adjacent to the hotel. Their food is superb, and the facilities around the hotel are more than excellent.

5. Hotel Bardo

The ambiance at Hotel Bardo, with its extensive pool resembling a cenote and surrounded by lush greenery, creates an intimate jungle hideaway.

The evening transformation with candles and lanterns illuminating the space brings a magical touch. This sets the stage for various nighttime activities like poolside lounging, stargazing, or enjoying signature drinks at the Kinky Room Bar.

6. Ikal Tulum Hotel

Ikal Tulum Hotel

⭐ Rating: 4.0 out of 5
📍 Location: Parque Nacional al Lado de Pancho Villa, 77760 Tulum, Mexico

Don’t miss out on their excellent yoga classes, which are a great way to start the day. After yoga, consider brunching and then sipping on cucumber margaritas from the bar.

The hotel amenities are satisfactory, and the mini bar is well stocked. On the downside, they have kombucha and CBD gummies, which might be great for adults but not so much if you are bringing kids. So, if your family is accompanying you, make sure to keep them out of their reach.

Amid vibrant Tulum, this beachside haven offered much-needed tranquility, a refreshing break from the area’s lively energy.

I found my kiteboarding paradise right outside—the hotel seemed tailor-made for it. For the less adventurous, kayaks and paddle boards were available, a thoughtful touch. The design was a fusion of Greek Isles charm and Tulum’s Caribbean jungle vibe—utterly captivating.

With ocean-facing rooms, a beachside bar, and delightful Mexican cuisine, Chiringuito Tulum curated a dreamy coastal retreat, balancing relaxation and coastal adventures perfectly.

FAQ

What precautions to take while swimming in the private pools at Tulum’s Hotel?

Do not swim alone, and avoid getting too drunk while in a pool. Unlike shared hotel pools and the beach, there is no lifeguard to keep an eye on you.

What do I pack for Tulum hotels with private pools?

Booking a hotel with a private pool shouldn’t change your packing list drastically, but I do recommend bringing an extra swimsuit. You don’t want sand from the beach getting into the pool in your room, so bring separate swimsuits if possible.
