The 19 Best Resorts in Tulum for Couples

Sipping cocktails watching the melting orange sun slip past the horizon, horseback rides on the beach, and secret rendevous while dipping in the hidden cenotes, Tulum is the ultimate couple’s destination.

From stunning coastlines to amazing nightlife and adventure-packed tours, this turquoise paradise is a romantic dream. You must choose from the best couple’s hotels and resorts, to turn your special vacation into the perfect getaway.

The best couple resorts won’t be the same as the ones meant for solo travelers or families. If you choose right, a magical time awaits you and your partner in this small, seaside town on Riviera Maya.

19 Best Tulum Couples Resorts

If you’re wondering where to stay in Tulum for couples, I’ve got your back. My partner and I took a few trips to Mexico over the last two years, and we got to stay and check out plenty of hotels and resorts. I won’t tell you they’re all great, but some will blow you away.

So, without further ado, let’s look at my list of the top options available in this little gem of the Yucatan peninsula.

1. Nomade Tulum Treehouses

Nomade Tulum Treehouses

📍Location: Carretera Tulum-Boca Paila Km 10.5, 77780 Tulum, Mexico
⭐Rating: 4.3 out of 5

I didn’t think anything could elevate the romantic charm of Tulum until we stepped inside Nomade Tulum. While there are several room types to choose from, we opted for the treehouse.

My first look at the charming treehouses at Nomade Tulum left me stunned by their intimate vibes. It truly feels like you’re sleeping within the luscious jungles of Tulum, and the view of the gorgeous coastline is unbeatable.

What truly made our stay special was the privacy and intimacy of the treehouse. Surrounded by swaying palm trees and the soothing sounds of the ocean, we found ourselves cocooned in our own private paradise. I’d say it’s perfect for couples seeking seclusion.

Dinners at the restaurants on the resort tantalized our tastebuds. Whether it was exotic Japanese at Kuu, fresh seafood from La Popular, or Mediterranean cuisine from Macondo; our meals were a journey. But that’s not all. The staff at Nomade was friendly, and their service was impeccable.

Amenities at the resort focus on the eco-friendly and holistic approach Tulum is known for, and we enjoyed them thoroughly. Sunrise yoga sessions, holistic spa treatments, and delicious organic cuisine made each day a rejuvenating experience for both body and soul.

2. Hotel Bardo Tulum (Adults Only)

Hotel Bardo Tulum

📍Location: Av La Selva entre Kohunlich Xcaret Y, Tulum City Centre, 77780 Tulum, Mexico
⭐Rating: 4.8 out of 5

If you’re looking for a wellness getaway with your partner, this is the place to be. Hotel Bardo is an adults-only resort focusing on the ritualistic concept of bordo (the journey of transformation). I can honestly say that we felt transformed after our stay.

Our loft-style villa felt like a private sanctuary, complete with a secluded plunge pool and YucatĂĄn hammocks. It was a cocoon of contemporary luxury where we could escape and nurture our connection.

The restaurant on the property, Milum, serves locally sourced Yucatan cuisine that is more than delicious. My partner particularly enjoyed the cocktails served at their bar, and the atmosphere was tranquil and relaxed.

Speaking of relaxation, the spa experience at Hotel Bardo is on another level. The treatments are inspired by Mayan rituals, making for a more cultural experience that is unmatched.

Forget the standard massage therapy and yoga sessions. Nothing compares to a sweat lodge ceremony held by a shaman in the middle of the jungle.

3. Casa Malca Tulum (Pablo Escobar House)

Casa Malca Tulum

📍Location: Carretera Tulum-Boca Paila Km 9.5, 77780 Tulum, Mexico
⭐Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Pablo Escobar’s reputation precedes him. So I wasn’t very excited when my partner booked our two-night romantic weekend at a resort in his house.

Boy, was I wrong! The place is full to the brim with art, and the staff is incredibly friendly. It’s the perfect stay for art aficionados, which was apparently the vision of New York Art collector Lio Malca when he transformed this abandoned gem into a luxury resort in the early 2010s.

The artsy rooms overlook the poolside and, beyond that, the beautiful ocean. So we got a world-class view that’s more common in Tulum Beach.  Yet, we were in the middle of the vibrant part of town. On our second night, we stepped out for a stroll to explore the nightlife.

room at Casa Malca Tulum (Pablo Escobar House)

The room was beautifully decorated and designed, matching the atmosphere in the rest of the hotel. There are two restaurants on the property, both serving amazing food (Mexican, and Asian cuisine. We also loved dipping into the outdoor pool because the weather was perfect.

There’s also a second pool underground, which you can directly access through the steam room. Designed and decorated in the James Turrell style, it was entering a world of psychedelic color. Overall, it was a unique experience that exceeded my expectations.

4. La Valise Tulum

La Valise Tulum

📍Location: Carretera Tulum-Boca Paila KM 8.7, 77780 Tulum, Mexico
⭐Rating: 4.6 out of 5

La Valise Tulum became our romantic haven along the breathtaking Tulum beach. We fell in love with the cozy rooms, decked out with adorable wicker animals, and the staff, who made us feel like cherished guests from the moment we arrived.

The Sian Ka’an reserve is only a short stroll away, so I’d say the location is great. The hotel’s island paradise style, with its thatched roofs and local wood accents, wrapped us in a warm embrace.

While the facilities were limited, the small pool and the option for in-room massages added to the relaxed vibe. Our room, with its beachy wooden floors and quirky sculptures, felt like our own little sanctuary. Although, the open-fronted shower might not suit everyone’s comfort level.

Nearby restaurants spoiled us with diverse options, and the NÜ restaurant across the road delighted us with exquisite dinners.

Although the rates, especially for those dreamy beachfront rooms, leaned toward the higher end, La Valise Tulum’s charm lies in its intimate and relaxed atmosphere—a beautiful haven for couples seeking a romantic escape.

5. The Beach Tulum Hotel

The Beach Tulum Hotel

📍Location: Road Tulum-Boca Paila km 7, 77780 Tulum, Mexico
⭐Rating: 4.6 out of 5

This hotel was a dreamy escape blending tranquility with local vibrancy, making it an ideal Mexican getaway. Nestled in Tulum’s main hotel zone, it’s perfectly sandwiched between the bustling beach and the vibrant strip, offering a seamless blend of relaxation and nearby hotspots.

The Caribbean boho-themed suites were simply enchanting with their dark wood furniture and beach views. Each room type had its own charm, but ours was the rooftop suite with a hot tub—pure bliss.

We absolutely loved Ziggy’s Restaurant and Beach Club. The Tequila & Mezcal Tasting was a hit, an absolute must-try. The hotel’s strategic location made exploring easy, although nighttime strolls might need a cab for comfort.

The beach had a lot of seaweed when we arrived, but we knew that it could sometimes interrupt beach days. Yet, there’s no shortage of nearby adventures, from snorkeling with sea turtles to diving into magical cenotes.

We truly felt that this hotel was an invitation to discover the wonders of Tulum while reveling in serene luxury.

6. Kanan Tulum Hotel and Spa

Kanan Tulum Hotel and Spa

📍Location: Boca Paila Road Km 8 Tulum, 77780 Tulum, Mexico
⭐Rating: 4.3 out of 5

While this place isn’t a very well-known hotel, you will be surprised. Still, the jungle treehouse themes of the decor are captivating. The beach is minutes away, and you can get a stunning sea view from some of the rooms.

The hotel is conveniently located in the middle of the boho scene of Tulum. We spent our nights exploring the nightlife and listening to good music.

The rooms were clean, and service was excellent. Although there’s still a long way to go until this hotel has all the services of a luxurious property, the accommodating staff members made us feel special.

We particularly enjoyed sipping cocktails on their unique sunroof bar, which has a 360 view from the nests. It was even more enchanting as the sun set and we danced under the starlight.

In short, Kanan Tulum gave us a world-class experience that far exceeded our expectations. They brought us personalized coffee orders up to our rooms every morning. Even the food at the restaurant on the property was super good. We especially enjoyed the seafood they served.

7. Be Tulum Beach Resort & Spa

⭐Rating: 4.7 out of 5

Yet another serene haven we found for our romantic escape, Jashita is a hotel nestled on the Caribbean shore. The decor looks simply amazing—a harmonious blend of the sky and the sea.

The relaxed yet contemporary ambiance with beachy straw loveseats and breezy bathrooms immersed us in calmness.

We booked the oceanfront suite—which was a dream. Fluttering canopies, with a color palette of sand and seashells. The ceiling felt like a thatched roof inspired by Mexican architecture, and the terrace overlooks the sea.

Service was good, and the rooms were pristine. The attention to detail was very much appreciated. We enjoyed their fluffy Italian bathrobes, complimentary snorkeling gear, and much more. There’s a beach palapa outside and an outdoor pool.

The hotel’s aura and location contrast, but it works so well. The beach clubs added a dash of vibrancy. It was a blend of seclusion and sociability, making our stay an idyllic escape into romance.

When we didn’t want to explore the area, we dined at Pandano, which served up delicious Italian-Mexican food that blew our taste buds away.

9. Cabanas Tulum Beach Hotel & Spa

Their service was warm, but the drinks can take time. Still, this property is not so crowded, so you will be able to connect better and spend more of an intimate time together. Add the fact that the hotel is adults-only, and you can just imagine how much more serene and calm your stay will feel.
