Boy, was I wrong! The place is full to the brim with art, and the staff is incredibly friendly. Itâs the perfect stay for art aficionados, which was apparently the vision of New York Art collector Lio Malca when he transformed this abandoned gem into a luxury resort in the early 2010s.
The artsy rooms overlook the poolside and, beyond that, the beautiful ocean. So we got a world-class view thatâs more common in Tulum Beach. Yet, we were in the middle of the vibrant part of town. On our second night, we stepped out for a stroll to explore the nightlife.
The room was beautifully decorated and designed, matching the atmosphere in the rest of the hotel. There are two restaurants on the property, both serving amazing food (Mexican, and Asian cuisine. We also loved dipping into the outdoor pool because the weather was perfect.
Thereâs also a second pool underground, which you can directly access through the steam room. Designed and decorated in the James Turrell style, it was entering a world of psychedelic color. Overall, it was a unique experience that exceeded my expectations.
