🌅 Scene

Scene of mezzanine hotel

Being nestled on a shallow cliff is why the hotel got its name, as the word Mezzanine translates to a “short platform.”

From its low throne, a few steps lead down to the beach that unfurls as a vista of teal waters kissing its powdery dunes.

Being the first boutique in the area, these pioneers watched their surroundings develop while remaining the top pick among tourists.

The hotel has thrived over the years and now has four more sister properties, three of which are located on the same stretch.

📍Location

location of Mezzanine

Located in the northern end of Tulum’s hotel zone, this Mezzanine sits between a beautifully dense jungle and a picture-perfect beachfront with pristine water.

With fewer hotels on this stretch, the beach is way less crowded than most of the hotel zone and has fewer pedestrians you’ll bump into.

The hotel is a comfortable 90-minute drive from Cancun Airport and has a lot of tourist spots closer to it. You can easily access a lot of tourist attractions like the Mayan ruins, which are only a 5 to 10-minute drive away, and the beach town isn’t too far either.

You can even enjoy a leisurely walk along the beach to get to the ruins in under 30 minutes. To explore the southern beach strip, you just need to take a half-hour car ride.

🛌Rooms

The exclusivity of the property lies in the nine rooms they offer. All of these are elegantly designed in a contemporary casita style with mosaic tiles, bohemian beach, or Thai accents like their wicker basket chairs, coconut incense, or vase of budding branches.

All the rooms and suites are spacious, with gorgeous views and plenty of natural light coming in. You can pick from a view of the ocean or jungle, knee-deep tubs, and rainfall shower combos.

They also offer a host of amenities like daybed loft areas, private decks with wicker loungers, and seating areas with Bose iPod decks. But remember that the hotels in this area have to supply their own electricity so you won’t find any televisions or phones in any of the rooms.

🏝 Beach

beach scene of Mezzanine

The Mezzanine’s beachfront has one of the most beautiful views in all of Tulum. But this part of the beach is rocky, and there are very few spots to throw your towel and lay in the sun.

You get an uninterrupted view of the ocean as the hotel is built on an elevated green patch among the mangroves.

Though the beach is not private, you won’t find any day visitors due to the lack of even flat surface areas to sit down and relax. This makes the beach private and suitably secluded for the guests staying here.

🍔🥤Food & Drink

While visiting Tulum, Mezzanine’s restaurant is a must-try. People who don’t even stay here come in to enjoy at least one meal here, during their visit to this ancient port.

Falling in line with the hotel’s boho-beach Thai vibe, there is an authentic Thai restaurant on the property with a menu that goes beyond Pad Thai and Red or Green Curry.

The menu is carefully curated and executed by chefs Dim Geefay and Liliana Lopez. They take pride in making Thai food and seamlessly infusing it with Mexican ingredients like jicama, chilis, and local fruits. They are open for breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner.

Their beachside cocktail bar and outstanding cocktails made by expert mixologist Jasper Soffer draw in huge crowds.

You can enjoy their two-for-one margarita happy hour or try a Mexican Cerveza or Mexican-Asian fusion cocktail with ingredients like mezcal, limes, and habanero peppers.

Other Features

Irrespective of which room you choose, the hotel offers some common amenities to all its guests, which include free breakfast, a welcome drink, free wifi throughout the property, and limited but free parking.
